Another overblown Seattle TV goodbye post

This time it's not from the departing KOMO talent, but her co-anchor Steve McCarron,  bidding her farewell and move to a competitor, KIRO.

"Well, the day I’ve been dreading for months is finally here… my dear friend Tyrah Majors’ last at KOMO & ARC Seattle.

It’s been a tough week - going to be honest - knowing this day has been coming. Quite emotional at times.

I know we’re not saying goodbye. She’ll still be in Seattle - just a few blocks away - beginning the next chapter in her already accomplished and impressive, young career.

But I will deeply miss seeing her beautiful smile as I walk into the studio each morning. And I will deeply miss looking over to see her sitting by my side on the ARC Seattle set - ready to engage in deeper conversations about the issues and events that affect our wonderful community.

I’ve loved every minute of our time together.

And I’m so proud of what we’ve built together - as part of a wonderful team that goes far beyond a camera lens.

Even before ARC Seattle launched on January 1, 2024, Tyrah and I hosted a weekly YouTube show called ‘Sound On’ on a small set in the corner of one of our other studios at KOMO Plaza.

That transformed into a new, 2-hour morning show on KUNS-TV, the current home of the local CW Network. The show eventually expanded to 3 hours each weekday morning before some changes were made earlier this year. After its debut, the show quickly became a model for other ARCs in television markets across the country. We’re very proud of that.

During these 2 projects, we became good friends.

And I hope our friendship, our natural chemistry, and our mutual respect for each other came across on camera. After all, the “A” in ARC stands for authenticity. And we always hoped to live up to that.

Tyrah, I have learned so much from you these past several years. You’ve not only made me a better person - you’ve made me a better journalist.

You are such a beautiful person - inside and out. And I am just one of the many people you have touchedl during your 5+ years inside this massive building on the corner of 4th & Broad right across the street from the Space Needle.

Thank you for everything, dear friend.

I know you will continue to shine and soar in this next chapter of your life. And I will be cheering you on every step of the way.

I look forward to sharing a table with you again someday." ❤️

TMI...period.   IMHO

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Farewell to this Fox 13 Seattle host

Carly Henderson - co-host of Studio 13: Live - was laid off in the recent KCPQ expansion which we broke.  She posts her goodbye on FB.  She never really clicked on the pay for play lifestyle mid-morning show.   It will be cut to a half hour for awhile and moved to 10 a.m, according to reports, before moving back to 11 on Aug. 4.  And I am told it will remain 30 minutes, not be re-expanded to an hour.   Thank goodness. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16HFRSYM8x
