Seattle Sports Radio Host on Fox Football

Brock Huard of KIRO Radio's 'Brock and Salk' tandem will be on the mic again this spring for United Football League games airing the FOX networks.  He'll be on a telecast next weekend, the first weekend in May and then later for these semifinals.    The Puyallup native starred for UW and later played for the Seahawks and Colts

  1. UFL? Unwatched Football League. Can’t imagine the ratings.

    1. Last Friday night debut at 8 EDT on Fox did 650,000 viewers. Celeb Jeopardy did 3.4 mill and NCAA tourney 10.5 mill. It did beat Penn and Teller on CW..lol.

  2. I can see some ratings on national sports so I will try to get this weekend's numbers. But I can't watch it either.

  3. Brock took a year off to coach his football playing son. I think he has designs on doing NFL color. He’s just getting back in the game

    1. Good on Brock for taking the time to coach his son! They have undoubtedly made many memories that will last a lifetime over the course of the season, and those are priceless!

As for getting back in the broadcast game, the UFL is a good place for him to do that. If he wants to keep coaching his son, the UFL could allow him to do that as the seasons don't overlap.

    2. I know he would love a shot at NFL analysis. They change personnel all the time in the booth, so it could happen down the road. He is very dedicated to his children who all play sports, so he was glad to get off the road for awhile. We shall see.

    3. The NFL is undoubtedly a larger, more prominent gig. I hope he does get a chance to do analysis for them someday.

    4. Brock saw your comment and he gave it a thumbs up to me.

    5. Would agree with you IDC. I think Brock might even be doing it this fall as his son is still playing at the HS level. The family lives as I think all of you know in Colorado these days. Also, for IDC's info, Brock has, with FOX, done NFL games, having done a few with them during the COVID pandemic when much of college football was shut down. Did very well in those assignments as I remember them. So we will see what happens moving forward especially as his former play by play partner on FOX's college football broadcasts has changed employers (Jason Benetti, who called the Mariners game for NBC/Peacock last night).

    6. I had forgotten or didn't catch his few NFL FOX games back then (probably watching Red Zone), but he did lots of Hawks pre-season with Menefee on KING and they worked well together, I thought.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Farewell to this Fox 13 Seattle host

Carly Henderson - co-host of Studio 13: Live - was laid off in the recent KCPQ expansion which we broke.  She posts her goodbye on FB.  She never really clicked on the pay for play lifestyle mid-morning show.   It will be cut to a half hour for awhile and moved to 10 a.m, according to reports, before moving back to 11 on Aug. 4.  And I am told it will remain 30 minutes, not be re-expanded to an hour.   Thank goodness. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16HFRSYM8x
