Seattle Met protege gets first job.

Nice story as Jake Stevenson, who learned at UW from KOMO chief meteorologist Shannon O'Donnell, has joined KEPR in Tri-Cities as the new weekend weather man and reporter, too.  Kudos.  You are on your way.

  1. Good luck to him. However, I find it remarkable that a young person goes into TV news when the audience is shrinking (and includes almost no new viewers in their 20s-30s). It just doesn’t seem like there is much chance of a career.

  2. It could simply be completing a dream, but he will move up and with Shannon as a mentor, he will have a true path of reference. Shannnon has a one credit course annually for this at UW, FYI.

  6. So does that mean being an "anchor assist" (yes, that is a "title") to one of the Big Three anchors (Jennings, Brokaw or Rather) meant you were the next big network anchor? I worked with KOMO's lead evening anchors for about a year (and were on a first-name basis), but it didn't land me anywhere on my feet, now did it?
