Who's on first?
ReplyDeleteThe nighttime backdrop does look out of place in the 4pm and 5pm hours at this time of year. It'll look more appropriate in November.
ReplyDeleteIf only they could do a second live hour each evening, say around 8pm, so that viewers watching later in the evening can have more up-to-date news, and the 4pm live hour and the 5pm replay can have a daytime backdrop.
Agreed
DeleteUse a keywall with graphics and change the backdrop virtually to match dayparts
ReplyDeleteThat would work too.
DeleteGotta record it now so you can play it back numerous times later.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you like me....but I can handle it.
DeleteOh I like ya. I’m just saying, that’s their approach: record to save a buck and punish the viewers who keep coming back.
DeletePretty Bush League! Isn't anyone watching at headquarters?
ReplyDeleteI don't know this for a fact, but I would have to think that someone at Fox's corporate headquarters would make a point of regularly watching newscasts from their stations to make sure that they are being professional, or at leaat doing what Fox corporate wants them to do.
DeleteThis topic is important, WHY?
ReplyDeleteImportant is not the issue. It's a media blog making observations about TV news.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a basic that any competent news production crew would handle easily. Not “important” per se, but very telling about the Q being hollowed out for cost savings.
ReplyDeleteIts sad to see any local TV station undergo budget reductions, and Fox 13 is no exception. Tribune built up a nice alternative to the big 3 stations in town when it came to local news that managed to be informative and, particularly on the morning show, fun, mostly without being too serious or too unprofessional. When Fox Corporate took over, the fun started slipping away, but the station remained informative. Now, the fun is mostly gone, and the station isn't as informative as it once was with the evening newscasts often covering fewer stories than they used to. That being said, the stories they do cover are being given more time to breathe, so there is still good information to be learned by watching Fox 13.
DeleteIt's hard to watch. Can't tell if David Rose is taking one for the home team or likes the new format. Hate the easy chairs.
ReplyDeleteI can't speak for Rose. But I do get the impression that he may at least be enjoying some of the banter that now takes place between stories with Kim.
