Abby gets the ring ICYMI

Fox 13 weather wizard Abby Acone shared some big news on the station's morning show, its web site and on X.  She is engaged!    More at the link: https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/fox-13-meteorologist-abby-acone-announces-engagement-good-day-seattle?taid=688e98769f39720001016767&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A%20Trending%20Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter

Don't tell me this is auto correct, KOMO. Just negligent!

KOMO news posts on X about the cuts for public broadcasting but it got the letters all wrong.  One of the worst mistakes I have seen in this era of nobody checks anything.  It was CPB, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, NOT CBS.   Somebody needs to be shown the door for this insipid, inexcusable mistake that remains up despite numerous comments on X "After being targeted by the Trump administration, CBS announced it will shut down operations at the end of the year - including longstanding institutions NPR and PBS - after Congress voted to cut $1.1 billion in funding." They finally took it down after three plus hours. I called it in. Hmm...this page doesn’t exist. Try searching for something else. Relevant people

New hire at this Seattle TV

Maria Schneider is now on board as an associate producer at KIRO from KMIZ, the News-Presss & Gazetter station in Columbia, MO.  Mizzou grad.  Don't usually post on behind the scenes people, but I publish this one because it helps plug a hole in the incredible shrinking staff at 7.   Still waiting on a weather hire for weekends.

CPB is going, going, gone.

The shutdown and layoffs begin and local stations must pledge drive to survive: The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the conduit for federal funds to NPR and PBS, announced on Friday that it is beginning to wind down its operations given President Trump has signed a law clawing back $1.1 billion in funding for public broadcasting through fiscal year 2027. Where are they NOW? -- Life after Seattle TV Weather

Seth Wayne was a meteorologist at KOMO, who left the station and the business in late 2019.   Shannon O' Donnell of 4 (still a good friend of his) posts that although he first migrated to the cruise biz, he now has started a boutique company called Sail with Seth, in which he offers global guided tours.    Thanks for the update!

UPDATED and Confirmed, former KOMO short-time anchor gone again.

Chris Nguyen, who abruptly left the KOMO anchor desk in February 2025 and then turned up in an apparent temporary slot for KNWN Seattle radio in the spring, has left the station.   Apparently his decision.    He came to KOMO around Christmas of 2024.   KNWN has now added longtime Seattle media man Scott Carty (pic below), who freelanced for me at the old NWCN among many other stops along the way in radio and TV.    This new post supplants my previous one.

Hey Fox 13, it's daytime...

Just happened to switch on Fox 13 at 421 Weds afternoon to see anchor David Rose and Hana Kim in front of a night scene of Seattle with the Space Needle all lit up against a dark sky and lights on in a large building downtown.   What, you don't have a daytime shot???  It's not November!!!   What's the deal?  Oh it must be the replays! Or is it because they call the show Seattle News TONIGHT?   It's not tonight at 421, folks.  I'll hang up and listen.
