Seeing a big solo promotional push for Patrick Hussion at KOMO with him talking about truth and accountability. Hmmm. A Sinclair anchor being pushed before the mid-terms? We still have no idea about whether this guy believes in the news media, for which he works, or hates it, as he said during his CPAC speech when he worked at the One American non-network cable network. Believe in his credibility if you dare. He has a tainted news rep, IMO. BTW the way, his co-anchor in the mornings is not getting the same push, is she? Trying to get him over with viewers? Aren't they a team??
Seems odd??

I haven't seen any of the new promos for Hussion yet, nor have I seen any for his co-anchor. The timing of these promos is definitely interesting with the election fast approaching. But could it have something to do with trying to improve KOMO's ratings in the morning? The November sweeps period will be here soon!
ReplyDeleteIf they are doing it to improve ratings, it tells me his presence might not be working. Bit where is Holly Menino, a proven Seattle anchor. I smell more than that, IDC.
ReplyDeleteI reckon you're right, and that there is more to it than ratings. I just thought that ratings could be a possible factor given the timing. While KOMO is well rated overall, its been my understanding that mornings are, or at least have been, the station's weak spot.
DeleteHello IDC9, which I assume stands for whether "I do or don't care", you are entitled to your opinion, but after sharing this blog with some of my colleagues, don't like thinking our AM newscasts are our "weak spot". These folks come in at 2 or 3AM (!) To get you the latest information to start your day. From seeing your previous posts, I assume you don't work or ever worked in a newsroom or journalism as a whole to fully understand what we do or how we work to make our product as best as we can. We work more and while the pay may not be all that, this is our passion. Anyway, just throwing it out there.
DeleteHello, Anonymous. Thanks for the response.
Delete"IDC" stands for my first, middle, and last initials. It doesn't stand for anything other than that.
As for you and your colleagues, I sincerley apologize for the offense that my comment has caused. My comment was limited exclusivley to the ratings for the newscasts, and not at all intended to be reflection of the quality of the newscasts. I must confess that my understanding of the ratings situation at KOMO and in this market may not be up to date. The last I had heard, KOMO was rated last in the mornings. If that has changed or was never accurate in the first place, I would appreciate knowing so that I and everyone else who reads this thread has accurate information.
The effort you all put in to assemble and produce KOMO's AM newscasts is most certainly appreciated, and should be recognized. I must confess that I don't tune in regularly as my day usually starts after your 4:30-7am morning news block ends. But when I am up and watching, I see the end result of the hard work and dedication everyone both on and off camera puts in to make KOMO's AM newscasts the best they can be, and it shows. Qualitywise, the newscasts are good.
As for working in a newsroom or in journalism, your assumption is correct. I haven't worked in a newsroom or in journalism as a whole. I am a longtime viewer (approaching 20 years) on the outside looking in, with a higher-than-normal interest in the news industry, and great respect for the people who work hard each and every day to keep the public informed.
