Seattle Times columnist Matt Calkins, who quit the paper after a transgender column was spiked, debuts at Outkick, writing about a women's sports bar in PDX.
Her goodbye post below! After an almost five-year stint, FOX 13 meteorologist and part-time news anchor Abby Acone ends her run there with a final show on this Sunday morning. Married earlier this month, she left no word on what's next. Not sure if it is fully her decision, but I'm told she had 'favored nation' status with news management. Here's Abby's goodbye post: My heart is so full as I reflect on my final week at FOX 13 ❤️ 🥹 I’m incredibly grateful for my time here and for the remarkable people who made this place feel like home. Good to hear that Calkins has found a new outlet to write for.
ReplyDeleteI second IDC. For those unfamiliar with OutKick, they are an online outlet that is run by Fox News that focuses on sports, so just that alone it's probably easy to guess their political and editorial coverage lean. They have a number of other higher-profile commentators and writers on their staff including former ESPN college basketball personality Dan Dakich, who is based in Indianapolis. The outlet is itself headquartered back east but my guess is Calkins is going to remain based here in Seattle and be their eyes and ears out here this direction.
