Fox 13's plan to move its Washington Sports Wrap show to 11 a.m. weekdays as an added play started with it being nothing more than a throwaway placeholder in its Monday debut (which it is anyway). It was listed on screen as an encore presentation and was it ever! It was a show produced late last week before the Seahawks pre-season game Saturday and that game was promoted in a first block graphic as you see above! Fox 13 couldn't have fixed a graphic to add Saturday's score and have anchor Lauren Helmbrecht just fix the voice over? Guess that was too much trouble. Nothing on the Mariners winning the Houston series either. Couldn't add one home run highlight and fix the audio. The bosses obviously didn't care about a debut show being fresh and current. Waste of time. Lazy and sloppy.
PS. The show airs at 6:30 pm weeknights. I realize there was no Sunday WSW show to time shift, but they have a Seattle Sports Live on Sundays at 10:30, so why not just run that???

Yup. Fully agree but my guess is they were more interested in tossing something up there to fill the airtime than actually take the time to make sure it was current because there was also fresh news today they could have run concerning Steve Ballmer and the L.A. Clippers
ReplyDeleteIs Washington Sports Wrap going to occupy the 11am slot full-time, or is it just tempoary until the new syndicated television season starts next month?
ReplyDeleteGotta be temp but also an audience sampling opportunity. Fox 13 makes a lot of changes in August based on past years or at least last year. I expect it will be replaced after Labor Day or when syndie is avail.
DeleteWhy in the world would you have a daily sports show at 11AM that is a replay? Can't you find a game show to run? I also don't understand why it would run head to head with things like Mariners games, Kraken games, prime time football games etc at 6:30? You are asking sports fans NOT to watch the show.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to figure out anything Fox 13 does. But it opens up inventory to different sponsors up against newscasts on the other stations on many weeknights. Airing at 630 keeps it away from some live sports but it's a mixed bag. The backups to Levine are not draws or strong enough with Charlston-Smilth mostly gone. No personality at all.
