"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.
Does somebody say that? Seems pretty much everyone in this market is cordial.

DeleteYup they did and this perhaps explains part of why KING and KOMO were both caught a bit unprepared for the Seahawks breaking news
ReplyDeletenobody expected a Saturday news drop. And staffing for news is weak on the weekend, much less the sports departments
ReplyDeleteTrue, but the point is, when something big breaks, even on a short-staffed weekend with probably a deliberate and late info dump, newsrooms have to react. KING did, getting Silvi on within an hour. He was at home! KOMO got caught worst on the timing. Stations always ballyhoo breaking news, so there has to be a plan when it breaks especially near newscasts. To compensate they could have had a continuous lower third crawl to repeat the information frequently during the newscast.
DeleteIn full agreement with this Wayne. The news never sleeps so people in this business always have to be ready when things happen, especially things such as this that are going to generate strong public reaction. KING did and as I noted on the other post about this subject, Maddie Carter for that being her debut broadcast as the new weekend anchor, really handled that segment like a champ.

DeleteIts always nice to see our local television talent being cordial and friendly with each other. They may be fierce competitors, but moments like this show that they really do respect and support one another.
