"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

ReplyDeleteHuh?? For a WNBA pre game? Why? Was there a news story breaking? We'll have to ask Silvi and Levine if they need a 'journalist' for a sports pregame. My point is that he does not need a female co-anchor because it's a Storm game. They can strongly contribute with him at the helm.

ReplyDeleteWe are talking about a bought and sold pre-game show to hype the contest on a Saturday. That's not reporting. That's making a deal for access. My point on the women is that the team may want a female on the set of a womens' basketball game. I understand that, but it wasn't done to break any news. It's a handout show to make the team look good and fans feel good. In short, Niko is good enough to handle it.
DeleteI agree with the idea that a women's basketball team would want a woman on the set for team related programming. For many, it would be mildly awkward at best and highly controversial at worst for only men to be on the set of team related programming for a women's team. This is not to say that Niko wouldn't do a good job solo. He very much would.
DeleteI'd agree but I would wonder about what the contract with the team requires. Additionally, I also wonder if KOMO trusts Niko to do it solo. In any event, the more we see this the more that this partnership is a head scratcher to me Wayne. Storm would be better served IMO working with either KING or Fox 13 again as they have done with both in the past.
ReplyDeleteTheir pregame shows with news anchors that probably can't name five players in the WNBA not named Clark, Reese, or Paige is ridiculous. Why not have Alyssa join from courtside or the remote studio? Makes no sense at all. Almost as little sense as Bill Wixey sitting on the Fox set with Levine for postmatch studio work. He ALMOST had his shirt tucked in sitting next to Levine and the analyst.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Their presence weakens Tamurian's anchor authority at Sports Director. Alyssa should at least open the show with him as primary game analyst, then finish her prep court side. KOMO doesn't want to hire anybody for money or credibility, so they just plug in news anchors.
