She's on her way to KING in August, but Patreons on ftvlive.com show several colleagues complaining about bullying tactcs and not wanting to work with her. It may explain why she moved from station to station in Seattle back in the day and wound up in a podunk market for years. Here's the post, you be the judge: FTVLive has heard from a number of staffers who described Lewis as a straight up "Bully." Now, normally, when someone reaches out to FTVLive and describes a co-worker is "mean" or a "bully", we don't pay it much attention. Not everyone likes each other and in a business full of big egos, there will be friction. But, the word "bully" kept popping up, when talking to people inside the WYFF newsroom. One insider shared a story in which WYFF Anchor Destiny Chance was to read a story while standing in front of the chroma key. One WYFF staffer described it this way, "Destiny had a shot at the chroma key after weather. The pr...
Kudos to FTVLive for finding this. Deeply troubling interview.
ReplyDeleteThe CPAC speech that has now been uncovered is even more disturbing. How on earth has Hussion managed to have a viable career in local news after his time at OAN? Working for Sinclair owned stations has likely helped, but one might reasonably assume that local station management would be wary of hiring someone who is an outright conservative in a market that is quite liberal, as is the case with both Seattle and Asheville, North Carolina, where he worked previously.
DeleteHope you are happy with your catch here KOMO but I'm not surprised because it is Sinclair right down the line. Not that you care but KOMO just lost me as a viewer.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's one thing to work for Sinclair and quietly play the game, but this seems a blatant hire, and a cover-up of sorts, IMHO. Moving him to a market with a very progressive new mayor.is interesting. Would Wilson let him interview her?
DeleteShame adding a conservative voice among all the liberal news media folk. Nothing to be scared of or hate a man for.
ReplyDeleteThe liberal news media viewers who comprise a significant majority of western Washington viewers in total, will send KOMO into a slow bleed as news of this propagandist's right wing background spreads.
DeleteI agree, Daniel. What is all the fuss about? What has he done since he's been here to worry about?
DeleteTelling a region they should not watch a news station because of a particular anchor is akin to telling school children they can’t read a book by a particular author…this usually backfires. People secretly like to bite into forbidden fruit. KOMO’s ratings went sky high after the other local media in town had a fit and labeled them the “conservative station” post - Seattle Is Dying. Instead of hurting KOMO, it helped them.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that people shouldn't watch KOMO because of Hussion or his background. I would say, however, that people should be aware of it so that they can decide for themselves whether or not they want to watch. If they want to watch, they are more than welcome to do so. If they don't, thats fine too.
DeleteYou're right, IDC9. No one is suggesting a KOMO boycott, it's just to make viewers aware enough to make their own choices. Consider the source. He's only been here a week?
ReplyDeleteIt feels longer, but it really has only been a week since Hussion made his on-air debut, and a few weeks since KOMO announced his hiring.
DeleteWell, thanks for the warning. People can make up their own minds. If Hussion had the nerve to voice a conservative opinion, certainly any reasonable liberal would be outraged. It would obviously ruffle their feathers and offend their sensabilities. Maybe not to such a venomous degree as Wayne, or ftvlive.com. Both are liberals, anti-conservative. Please, no more meltdowns, Wayne. It's a bad look.
ReplyDeleteVenomous? Meltdown? You mean putting facts out there and wondering if a news anchor should wear his beliefs/credentials on his sleeve? Hmmm. Feel better now?
DeleteWearing their politics on their sleeves is what CNN and MSNOW talking heads do every day. Who are you trying to fool?
DeleteCNN and MSNow produce opinion shows on cable with hosts who display political views just like Watters and Hannity do on Fox. That's totally different from a local broadcast station newscast anchor where the audience expectation is Reporting the news not Commenting on it. If you listened to the Hussion speech at CPAC you were likely celebrating his discussion of media bias. That's your right. If Hussion would have been a PR man for a liberal congressman and later got a news anchor job, I would have posted similar concerns as a news observer and blogger. Not trying to fool anyone.
ReplyDeleteWell, time will tell if he can last longer on the desk than all of the two or so months that Chris Nguyen lasted on the desk.
