Hearing that a Seattle TV anchor.....

... Has entered the transfer portal in town. Betting someone moving on from KING.   Stay tuned.

  1. An interesting mystery! I look forward to hearing more about this.

  2. With Madison leaving and no replacement for Steve Soliz, KING’s anchor bench is dwindling.

  3. I think Copeland pretty much became Soliz's anchor replacement and Wade's departure is not surprising IMO. Her departure note looked more or less something generated from ChatGPT.

  4. Each weekend a different reporter has anchored the king newscast in place of Wade before she leaves at the end of the month. Is it a trial run? Sebastian or Madeline will join the anchor ranks at king?

    1. Madeline is listed as both reporter and a fill-in anchor on KING's "meet the team" page, so it would make logical sense for her to move up.

  5. I would vote for Maddie White. Nobody wants weekend nights.

    1. White left KING earlier this Spring, and is now at KPIX in San Francisco. If she hadn't left, I'd agree that she would have been a good choice for the KING anchor desk.

  6. Meant Maddie Carter, who is with new sports guy Dusty Baker. Too many Maddies??

    1. Yup, for a while there K5 had Madison Wade, Maddie White, and Madeline Carter but only the last will still be around...

As for the rumor, could it be a negotiating ploy to get a big raise?

  7. That’s not a bad theory, Fox 13 tried to get Mimi to join them when Liz Duewike (sp?) left. King allegedly pulled out everything they had to get her to stay.

    1. I didn't know that Fox 13 was interested in recruiting Mimi! I reckon she would have paired well with Bill Wixey!

    2. I don’t know how much she entertained it, but I heard the offer was a lot more than king was paying. I’m assuming the station matched the offer. Personally, I think Mimi wants to finish her career at king. Who ever has entered the “anchor portal” is news to me, no announcement has been made to the staff.

    3. I said I was 'betting' that it might be KING, but don't jump to conclusions.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Major change for Majors!

Tyrah Majors, KOMO morning traffic anchor and ARC Seattle co-host is entering the transfer portal, joining the KIRO morning news team on July 5 per her post on Instagram. Her last day at KOMO is June 26.   It's the first big anchor move by 7's new news boss.  Plus previously adding Nia Bliss (Wong-ex Fox 13) and Heather Bosch freelance (ex-Kiro radio).  Interesting to see exactly what her role there will be.  KIRO has a morning traffic anchor and an established news team in Dee Dee and Linzi plus Nick Allard on weather.    Waiting to hear more.    Majors also said she will continue teaching at Seattle U.     I have not been impressed by her work on ARC. Steve McCarron has carried her along. She's a strong brand builder, however.   You can search my previous posts about her on the site.   Could this also signal the end of ARC? I posted last week that a major move was going to happen in the market.  KING ...
