Why is a top TV news reporter posting this?

From KOMO Senior News Reporter Chris Daniels, who cannot stay in his lane.    I just don't get the desire to post incidental sports news when you are supposed to be breaking news stories.

"In scheduling news:

Defending FCS Champs Montana State visit the Kibbie Dome & Idaho on Friday, October 2nd in an ESPN nationally televised game.

Fresno State visits Washington State in Pullman on Saturday, October 3rd.

That will be a great weekend on the Palouse."

Sheesh..couldn't wait for this nonsense.  Embarrassing.

  1. Should we assume that Daniels will be there to cover those games?

    1. No, but TBH this is what you could best describe as click bait for Daniels' "X" audience. He has done this fairly regularly on his X feed over the years as he clearly has recognized that a lot of sports fans follow him on that platform (frankly, any smart Seattle sports fan especially those wanting the Sonics back, he is a must follow there).

    2. I don't use "X", but if I did, I would follow Daniels there as, like it or not, he is the go-to reporter for coverage of the Sonics' potential return to Seattle. He has owned that story for years now.

Since sports fans do follow him there, it does make sense for him to post about sports sometimes, especially anything Sonics related. But this post feels like it should have come from KOMO's official Sports Director, Niko Tamurain. It would have made sense for him to post something like this since WSU is mentioned.

    3. And that is a fair comment IDC.

  2. You’re drifting into full “get off my lawn” territory with these Daniels rants.

    1. This post is sports minutiae. MINUTIAE. His position at the station makes a post like this incongruous and obscure. In my opinion, it lessons his primary role of strong, serious reporting. By now, I can somewhat deal with his major posts on sports business, but this? Montana? FCS game in May? Kibble Dome? LOL. C'mon.

  3. Strongly agree with you Wayne. Chris is the best though! Must be a relative involved?

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

Seeing some alerts on Parella Lewis' behavior in SC

She's on her way to KING in August, but Patreons on ftvlive.com show several colleagues complaining about bullying tactcs and not wanting to work with her.   It may explain why she moved from station to station in Seattle back in the day and wound up in a podunk market for years. Here's the post, you be the judge: FTVLive has heard from a number of staffers who described Lewis as a straight up "Bully." Now, normally, when someone reaches out to FTVLive and describes a co-worker is "mean" or a "bully", we don't pay it much attention. Not everyone likes each other and in a business full of big egos, there will be friction. But, the word "bully" kept popping up, when talking to people inside the WYFF newsroom. One insider shared a story in which WYFF Anchor Destiny Chance was to read a story while standing in front of the chroma key. One WYFF staffer described it this way, "Destiny had a shot at the chroma key after weather.  The pr...
