Chris Daniels of KOMO says his detoured Q&A with Seattle Mayor Wilson by a ballcapped PR bozo has kicked up a bit of a national ruckus. Good.
"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

This looks really bad for Mayor Wilson. I hope for the sake of the city that Wilson and her team are able to learn from this, and become better at dealing with the press.
ReplyDeleteAs for Chris and KOMO, I hope they continue to document and report on Wilson's interactions with the press to see if she and her team improve.
Wilson hardly has the experience to do this job and seeing all of these gaffes and faux pas and poorly managed press briefs is making me think that there is going to be a situation of a 9.0 magnitude that she is going to be another absent leader to guide the city forward and just saying "bye" isn't going to cut it. Exhibit A: Durkan in 2020 during the pandemic with CHOP/CHAZ, the unrest with local law enforcement and the deleted text messages. Wilson's first test as mayor is going to be the upcoming World Cup games in the city this summer. You may not be a soccer fan, but this is a great boost to the local economy, but you need to factor in things like security, transportation, lodging, etc. Time will tell, but it pains my heart seeing cities like Seattle taking a page of Marx's Communist Manifesto which is an interesting read but is a failure to put into practice.
ReplyDeleteJust what the socialists want - state run media. You will ask the questions we tell you to ask. Good grief. Seattle voters have really outdone themselves
