Sebastian Robertson of KING 5 reporting on a child murder wearing a crew neck something or other on the story. Just absurd. Really classy, rookie. Now, back to our regularly scheduled program, Leave it to Beaver.
Robertson isn't really a rookie, I should correct, having worked in Austin and Dallas and 7 years here, so his apparel is even more surprising for a story like this.

Absurd seems a bit harsh. There’s a reason you’re on the sidelines, Wayne.
ReplyDeleteThe reporter only needed to slip on a sport coat and he would have been fine. It was a serious story that demanded an authoritative look by the reporter. Period. Sidelines? A cheap shot from an anonymous poster.
DeleteYou also take a lot of liberties in your post. Calling it a child murder is premature. COD not determined or released yet. No on or off the record statements indicate murder/homicide/foul play. Suggest? Perhaps. Loose. Maybe that’s why you never made it past cable.
ReplyDeleteSomeone was trying to cover something up and family members had suspicions. This was a four-year-old child buried by somebody.
DeleteFor your information, sir, I CHOSE cable news after 20 years in broadcast on-air and management.
I look forward to seeing your news credentials.
For the record:
DeleteThe Aberdeen Police Department arrested a 36-year-old man early Thursday in connection with the death of his son, 4-year-old Aiden Bevins, whose body was found buried in a relative's backyard in May. Biological father. Charged with second degree murder and manslaughter.
I’ve noticed this too. KING must not have any dress code policy for reporters outside of that yellow jacket.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow jackets cover a multitude of sins, true. Casual attire is ok for a boating feature but not a serious criminal case. Just have a sport coat in the backseat of the news car and slip it on. Even a tie just in case. Reporter or anchor attire should never be a distraction from the content. Professional, appropriate.
DeleteKING staffing is mighty thin. Wonder if the t-shirt is a "This is my 9th shift in 8 days" protest or something. Regardless, not a look old Seb ought to save for his reel.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Wayne I just found your page today after asking about changes in TV broadcasters in Seattle and I agree Sebastian Robinson non-professional what happened to the times where they had to have a shirt and a tie on or at least a king five shirt and some of the people with their hairstyles or absurd AJ janibal doesn't deserve to be on camera at Fox 13 sorry it looks like a bum
ReplyDeleteHello, and so glad you checked the page. I hope you won't be disappointed. I wok hard to get the latest on talent and programming. Thanks, M>
DeleteWhile Robertson did not sport the most professional look here, it could have been worse. He could have been wearing sports team attire, as our local reporters have been known to do from time-to-time.
