85 seconds of this on Kraken post game

No commercials, no nothing but a 1:25 static shot of an empty arena after the Kraken game in KHN.  Symbolic somehow.  Hmmm.

    1. And yet you read. Anonymously trolling a free, volunteer blog! Get a life.

    2. I was just noting that KIRO seems to have nothing positive going on after the news director got kicked out of the building this week. Seems to be snake but of their own doing. It was not a journo post.

  3. Thanks for the support. I don't mind some snark. I have had that for about five decades in broadcasting at every stop. Can't please everyone looking at through the fishbowl sometimes. Lol

  4. Watched much of the game on Saturday and can tell you Wayne the issue you saw was one that affected them throughout the entire broadcast. Either A. they didn't sell the ad space or B. they had a technical issue that prevented them from airing the commercials during the breaks. Not sure which one but what you saw was not a one-time occurrence during the broadcast. Fortunately they only have one local broadcast left this season - Wednesday - as the other two games are ESPN broadcasts. In a perfect world, KHN would just sim VGK's Scripps broadcast and call it good because their production and broadcast values down there are very strong also.

  5. Tegna employee here. Luckily Anonymous! Ads are sold. As they have been all season. Needed a reset of server after a meltdown and it takes hours. Bad timing. Bad luck.

    1. Hopefully the server is back up and running again now. Technical gremlins are no fun for anyone!

    2. Excellent explanation of what happened and here is hoping all is well for the game tomorrow night. Those issues, IDC is right, are no fun for anyone. Tech sometimes sucks and this was definitely an example of that

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Farewell to this Fox 13 Seattle host

Carly Henderson - co-host of Studio 13: Live - was laid off in the recent KCPQ expansion which we broke.  She posts her goodbye on FB.  She never really clicked on the pay for play lifestyle mid-morning show.   It will be cut to a half hour for awhile and moved to 10 a.m, according to reports, before moving back to 11 on Aug. 4.  And I am told it will remain 30 minutes, not be re-expanded to an hour.   Thank goodness. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16HFRSYM8x
