Two Seattle anchors cycling downward

I guess KING 5 viewers really crave the two morning anchors exercising.  It makes such a difference for us knowing the latest news.  At least it's on their own post, but didn't know that was their job, to help us with fitness.  I couldn't see Enerson and Bounds doing this, can you?

  1. Where are the in-studio dance videos?

  2. I think you mean COULDN’T see Bounds & Enersen doing this. And no, you could not.

    1. I agree. Bounds and Enersen would have never even considered doing this. This is not the role of professional newscasters, which Bounds and Enersen very much were. Mimi and Jake are as well, but definitely not to the same level, and this video proves it. They would likely never have done this when BELO owned KING.

  3. Why? Younger viewers might like this, but will never watch broadcast TV — and older viewers aren’t scrolling their socials. And neither demo will ever show up in KING’s ratings. So the answer to “Why?” is: EGO.

  4. Speaking of Mimi and Jake, can anyone answer my question.? I use to watch them in the morning and then came in one morning and Christine was there, no Mimi or Jake. I had no idea why. Thought it was temporary or they had left until I discovered that was not the case. They have a very short morning news program now. Is there a reason for this?

  5. First I've heard of this. Thought Pae only did KONG at 7a

    1. I thought Pae contributed to and sometimes anchored the 7am to 9am show on KONG, and anchored the Noon news on KING. Have her duties been expanded?

As for Jake and Mimi, I thought they anchored from 5am to 7am on KING and 7am to 9am on KONG. Have their duties been reduced?

    2. Jake and Mimi have not been on Kong for some time. Christine is on starting at 7.

    3. So Jake and Mimi are only doing the 5am to 7am on KING now? That surprises me! I would have thought that KING would want them doing more than that.

I am happy for Christine that she is getting more airtime. She is a good anchor.

    4. 430-7 am as usual for those two

    5. Thank you Anonymous and Wayne for answering my questions. Very much appreciated.

  6. For one thing, Christine is a stronger anchor than Jake or Mimi combined so its good that KING is giving her more airtime. As for exercising, at least its tamed than the eyebrow lifting stuff Acone puts on FOX13 about her queer awakening and empowerment. Acone made it a story of her losing and later recovering her wedding band when she first got married.

  7. Well, they are desperate to appeal to weight watchers and exercise junkies, but they are supposed to do NEWS. One of them was a notorious clock watcher, according to a former boss and the other was a favored by the Asst. ND but not the ND. Acone's behavior past and present is that of attention-craving.

    1. They're not really doing NEWS. They're just prompter-readers to what you call talking heads. The real heroes of news (at least IMO) are the assignment editors who burn the midnight oil going through press releases from businesses looking to be featured on a newscast, keeping their cool listening to a scene of violence in Capitol Hill on the scanners, etc. Anchors these days just show up, put on some pancake here and there, and sit pretty while earning a paycheck for just reading. I'll bet there is not one anchor in this market that I know doing any real enterprise reporting. Did they spend their off-air time conducting any research? Nope. They're just news readers, nothing more. As for Acone, she or whatever they identify as is nothing but preaching queer awareness that it really is utter brainwashing.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

UPDATED: Seattle TV Weather Wizard's Finale

Her goodbye post below! After an almost five-year stint, FOX 13 meteorologist and part-time news anchor Abby Acone ends her run there with a final show on this Sunday morning.  Married earlier this month, she left no word on what's next.  Not sure if it is fully her decision, but I'm told she had 'favored nation' status with news management.  Before joining 13 in December of 2021, she worked three years at KOMO and also did a stint in Tri-Cities. Fittingly, this last shot on IG is studio appropriate.    I've been frequently critical of her on this site for using the station's studio to post questionable videos (IMO), but for now, good luck.   Here's Abby's goodbye post: My heart is so full as I reflect on my final week at FOX 13 ❤️ 🥹 I’m incredibly grateful for my time here and for the remarkable people who made this place feel like home. I’ve had the joy of working alongside some of the most talented, hardworking, and genuinely wonderful people in th...

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.
