Mariners betray their fans

Your beloved Mariners have left fans scrambling to find TV games just before opening night. Never believe the team cares about fans. Never.  They hide pricing and Information until the last minute.  Now Apple buys a game and NBC has Sunday.   Fans are marks for this team.  The Mariners specialize on lip service to sell overpriced tickets and concessions. Listen to radio.  I won't watch for a second year in a row.  Boring.

  1. And the NBC game Sunday Wayne isn't actually on NBC, but on Peacock and for those who are lucky to have it (YouTube TV and I think Comcast?), NBCSN. But you are not alone in your outrage about the different issues at play here. NY Yankees TV voice Michael Kay has voiced similar sentiments Wayne. MLB was handling the arrangements for all of the teams together and only finalized theirs with DIRECTV yesterday morning getting their streaming subs access to MLB.TV through DTV Stream among other things. Being able to watch the Mariners this year is going to be a bit of a chore and that is sad. And it is not something that the team is able to control since they ceded all that to the commissioner's office.

    1. When do the Sunday MLB games on NBC actually start airing on NBC and not just on Peacock? When the NBA regular season is over? Or when the NBA championships are over?

    2. Yes pretty sure after the NBA playoffs are over. NBC wants to build out Sunday nights with football, bball and baseball in primetime.

    3. Primetime sports on Sunday is a good strategy for NBC to pursue. But it does get a bit complicated when the sports involved have their seasons overlap, as basketball and baseball are doing now. The number of Sunday primetime slots is stuck at one per week considering how long these games run for, so its not like they can air one sport in an early slot and then air the other sport in a later slot while sticking to the traditional primetime hours. This is where Peacock can come in handy, but only if the games are acessible to everyone eho wishes to watch.

  2. You're correct. NBA on NBC Sunday. Difficult to navigate for sure. MLB may be to blame for this but the price for pay cable was hidden and no one publicized it or reported it accurately. Missed opportunity for the league and team. And I am sure many fans don't understand the league involvement. They just want to see a championship team. It becomes a poor excuse, no matter. Thanks for chiming in

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Farewell to this Fox 13 Seattle host

Carly Henderson - co-host of Studio 13: Live - was laid off in the recent KCPQ expansion which we broke.  She posts her goodbye on FB.  She never really clicked on the pay for play lifestyle mid-morning show.   It will be cut to a half hour for awhile and moved to 10 a.m, according to reports, before moving back to 11 on Aug. 4.  And I am told it will remain 30 minutes, not be re-expanded to an hour.   Thank goodness. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16HFRSYM8x
