KING's partnership with the team was perfectly timed and it paid dividends with the game on NBC. And they jumped over the network Olympics to do a live post game with Paul Silvi and Joyce Taylor, Drew Mikkelsen and Steve Raible in Santa Clara. Very impressive. Great work.
And word that Wednesday KING will have EXCLUSIVE coverage of the ceremony at Lumen Field at 10 am, with the parade to follow starting at 4th and S. Washington.
Kudos to Fox 13 for its aggressive coverage all week long despite not having the game. Impressive.

I just glad we won. Solid organization and Macdonald could wind up as the greatest Seahawk coach, just one more SB victory!

This region is finally getting some time in the spotlight when it comes to sports, after years of lagging behind other parts of the country, including Boston, which, for a while in the 2010s, seemed to have a steady stream of sports team victories, fueled by the Patriots.

After working in broadcasting, I was struck by how powerful employee engagement was to organizational performance — and by how dismissive/ignorant my TV employers had been about creating a sense of buy-in and cohesion. Instead of fostering a team attitude, most news directors would point to the baskets of tapes from people who wanted your job. I am sure the best newsrooms and organizations aren’t like that, but many are. As an industry, TV could learn a lot from the Seahawks or any enterprise that fuels a sense of mission and commitment. It’s how you win in any endeavor.

ReplyDeleteJoyce seemed uncomfortable. Or awkward. Just a weird fit to push her on to a football postgame show. I guess showcase the main star of the station but just was a hard watch.
ReplyDeleteUnless it was a management decision from ND Frame, Silvi and Mikkelsen were doing just fine so I don't know what Taylor's presence could have offered coverage wise. She did have that confused deer in the headlights look. They even had former KIRO7 anchor and Seahawk himself Raible offering his expertise. It would have been best to have had Joyce in the studio instead of having Wade even though it was the weekend. This also would have been a good opportunity for KING to use Pae, who is one of their strongest anchors on deck. Either way, looking forward to the victory parade coverage tomorrow. Go Hawks!
ReplyDeleteRaible was on The Fifth Quarter all year so he was no surprise on post game Sunday. I did not see Walter Jones all week, but maybe I missed him. Any sightings? And I agree Joyce added nothing but KING often likes to add a main news anchor to the coverage.
