So the stories about the team going up for sale after the big game were correct, negating the desperate Jody Allen denials and time spent taking the players and staff off the ledge, so there would be no distractions and negative questions during the game run up.
The team confirmed the sale process has gotten underway. What was the over/under? The original story that caused all the headlines and chaos was broken by a nationally-known reporter. Where were the locals? Too busy bandwagoning? Worried about jeopardizing access? Thoughts?

The reason IMO Wayne that story got leaked like it did was the leaker was expecting a certain response from Seattle fans and media that was going to potentially be a distraction. Reality of the situation is the team was going to be sold sooner rather than later as that is part of Paul Allen's will. So what I would hope all the TV stations in this town will do when covering this is not over-sensationalize and run with a "doomsday" style-narrative fearing a relocation. And sad to say, KIRO at noon I think just fell into that trap.
ReplyDeleteDid not see that KIRO coverage but with the Walker free agent machinations, no Kubiak, new coaches and the sale beginning, it will be top of mind for awhile. The Super Bowl hangover is underway!
DeleteI wonder if the league leaked it to get Allen more motivated. Somebody wanted it out nationally.
Here's KIRO radio on it. A gut punch? Really? Ok. From: Gee and Ursula.

Exactly. Gee and Ursula fell into that trap too unfortunately
DeleteYep. Info like and trust Ursula but she's a host not a news person anymore
DeleteI hope when you listen to Gee and Ursula, you give more weight to Ursula’s opinion
ReplyDeleteRich
I just see clips periodically. I know Ursula and trust her for sure.
DeleteSame here. She has been a mainstay and very good for many years at KIRO Radio. She deserves better IMO than to have to be paired with Gee on that show
DeleteNFL = Not For Long. Let’s hope for a good new owner.
ReplyDeleteToo much speculation already about Bezos. He has ruined the Washington Post after early flattering talk, so he has no credibility, but billions to spend.
