Arielle Orsuto already in Peoria, AZ, covering the Mariners, after just coming off Super Bowl coverage. The sports beat goes on and KING 5 takes the early lead on Monday at 5.
In the past, stations have parachuted in for a couple of days to stockpile interviews. The games or game highlights are usually available on Mariners.com.
Fox was very aggressive for the Super Bowl, and I would expect them to keep the pressure on and maybe ratchet up some travel and coverage as the Games end next weekend. Haven't seen any publicity on that as yet.
KIRO likely doubtful to travel. KOMO likely try to get Niko Tamurian into Peoria for a fast turnaround.

Historically, KING has sent someone, usually Egan, to spring training. I wouldn't expect anything less this year. The Mariners did almost make it into The World Series last year, and could do so again this year. Sleeping on Mariners coverage seems unwise.
ReplyDeleteFox 13 will undoubtedly send someone to spring training. KOMO might. KIRO won't.
With the end of root, what station(s) will the mariners be on this season?
ReplyDeleteThere has been no information on TV access, so far. Only streaming for $20 a month is what we currently known.
ReplyDeleteWell, as you saw with Arielle down there in AZ yesterday, KING did send someone and in the process blew up the first thing I was going to predict and that was them and KCPQ, with sister stations in AZ, using the Phoenix resources initially to handle that coverage. I don't expect KOMO to send anyone unless they want to send Niko down to turn around a package of stories they can then run over the course of two-three weeks. KIRO a flat no.
ReplyDeleteI will watch WA Sports Wrap on Fox 13 tonight to see if they are in AZ yet.
ReplyDeleteKIRO would cover spring training if the game footage was shot by a surveillance or doorbell camera. Otherwise, no.
ReplyDeleteFox 13 using video and sound from.mariners.com Tuesday night, so not at spring training at this point.
DeleteGreat to see that KING has lived up to expectations. Since Egan is still in Italy covering the Olympics, sending Orsuto was the logical choice.
ReplyDeleteNow the question is who will anchor KING's sports segments this weekend with Egan and Orsuto both away on assignment?
Is there a radio station or shows there yet?
ReplyDeleteI think there is a 'Hot Stove Show' airing at 7 pm on radio. Saw Gary Hill Jr reporting from Peoria so I presume Dreyer and Rick are on hand.
DeleteKJR 93.3 has its morning show there all week. Chuck Powell and Bucky Jacobsen
DeleteThanks for the info on KJR. Trying to stay competitive with 710. I don't focus on radio much anymore except for audio clips or social media.
