Fox 13 carries the ball

      Bryan Walters and Levine

Fox 13 Seattle continued its post game show until 9 PM after the big win with all hands on deck band topping KINGs show timewise.  They maxed out the big win and had strong all day presence on TV and web.  Aaron Levine leading coverage.  They put two additional tag teams on the field as well. Kudos for smothering the story.

  1. You couldn't ask for a better game as far as thrills.

  2. KING has long been the leader in TV sports coverage in this market, but Fox 13 is quickly eclipsing them. KING is still a strong second.

  3. Because King has the game on NBC they will throw the kitchen sink with money, staff and time the coverage. But 13 has been on a bit of a roll, true.

    1. Since KING does have the game, I have no doubt that they will throw every resource they have at coverage and outdo Fox 13 in this instance. But I fully expect Fox 13 will throw everything they have at it as well. Neither station is going to take this event lightly.

  4. 13 will use Washington Sports Wrap to great advantage and use the services of its strong sister station in Oakland, KTVU, where the current ND used to work. I would not be surprised to see all the stations do specials once the team arrives. I also expect King to get interviews with Tirico and Collinsworth to spike the coverage even more. KIRO radio and KJR will be on 'Radio Row' of course, doing lots of extrs live stuff from the scene.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Farewell to this Fox 13 Seattle host

Carly Henderson - co-host of Studio 13: Live - was laid off in the recent KCPQ expansion which we broke.  She posts her goodbye on FB.  She never really clicked on the pay for play lifestyle mid-morning show.   It will be cut to a half hour for awhile and moved to 10 a.m, according to reports, before moving back to 11 on Aug. 4.  And I am told it will remain 30 minutes, not be re-expanded to an hour.   Thank goodness. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16HFRSYM8x
