Rick Boone, who left Seattle's KIRO 7 as it's Managing Editor after just four months, has taken over as leader of the combined news operation of the Wenatchee World and NCWLIVE, apparently available only on Roku, Fire TV, Apple and a TV channel on local cable access, I am told. To say the least, Boone has had a checkered recent TV past with a multitude of quickly departed small market jobs, culminating in this gig which is way down the media food chain. The question is how long will he last this time. Culture shock dead ahead.

I doubt he'll last long in Wenatchee. He never lasts long anywhere he goes. Maybe this time will be different.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you Wayne this will be a culture shock and like IDC, I doubt he lasts long there. Give it six months. I am familiar with this channel over there as they do local sports (high school games, summer college baseball's Wenatchee AppleSox). The channel over there is an actual cable channel, basically their version of local access, a lot different than the local access channel over here on this side of the Cascades Comcast and other providers provide. They do have an evening news broadcast during the week - and a morning show - but their staff is small. So very small and very low-budget. A lot different than what Boone is more familiar with.
ReplyDeleteFor essentially being a local access channel, they produce quite a bit of content. Its very impressive what they're able to do with the limited resources that they have.
DeleteHave never watched. Don't have any of the apps needed though I may look around for an alternative.
DeleteThe morning show and evening newscasts are usually posted on their YouTube channel each day.
DeleteYou are a veritable Media Maven!!
DeleteIt is IDC. It is.
DeleteThanks again Mr. Workman for that update. Gonna be a short-timer, yes.
