KIRO has no sports department any more so lets send morning weather anchor Nick Allard to T-Mobile to stand in the freezing cold, dark, empty stadium, which, BTW, has a roof, no matter what his forecast may be. The game is at 5 pm, giving Nick about a 12-hour head start. In other words, a fun gimmick, I guess, but very ironic for the beleaguered channel 7 even with the current playoff hype. But it's 'live for the sake of live,' for any Seattle station at that hour.

In all fairness, Fox 13 had a weather guy, Brian MacMillan, doing the same thing this morning.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know, but at least FOX 13 has used Brian Macmillan more regularly live on the morning zip trips, etc. He and Nick actually posted a pic together. On the other hand, Nick is almost never out of the a.m. studio (weather and traffic) and this looked like 'jumping on the bandwagon' effect to help KIRO hang on. It's still 'live for the sake of live' and certainly nothing new in TV. I wonder if RIch Marriott was out there for KING?
ReplyDeleteIt's not part of his "get Rich" sceme contract, LOL. After all, KING is literally steps away from T-Mobile Park so even doing just one live hit on the studio roof would suffice as being there. Cheers!
DeleteMuch too cold on the roof for anyone at 0dark30
DeleteNick has the right personality for going out live in the field for special weather broadcasts like this one. Now if only he still had Michelle Millman to bounce off of...
DeleteWhere is Chris Francis?
ReplyDeleteLast I heard, he had joined Straight Arrow News.
DeleteHe was fired months ago as was his producer. It's hurt the station a lot, especially with the Mariners situation. The station looks lame IMHO.
