Carly Henderson, former co-host of Studio 13 Live on Fox 13 Seattle, has re-emerged after being cut by the station doing some entertainment work on-air with cable's News Nation. Video at the link.

Congratulations to Carly. I always enjoyed her television persona. Now she will be in the same house as Ali Bradley. They both have found a better place.
ReplyDeleteNews Nation is a barely-rated FNC wannabe. I will disagree that it is a better place nut for a paycheck in a volatile TV world.
DeleteNot to mention Marni Hughes also left her evening anchor position at FOX 13 Seattle for this mom-and-pop or cookie cutter of network news channel. While it is a step up to go from local to network, NewsNation barely scratches the surface in contrast to the "Big Three". You even have ex-network newsies like Chris Cuomo and Bill O'Reilly who are just there to say that yes, they got screwed by their former employers, but this network is giving me a platform to allow me do what I best and all is hunky-dory in their world. As Walter Cronkite said at the end of his final broadcast back in 1981: "Old anchormen, you see, don't fade away. They just keep coming back for more."
DeleteThe Chicago police scanner has better numbers than News Nation, based at WGN
DeleteWhere's Mark Felt? Its been awhile since we heard their wit and insight. What happened to them?
ReplyDeleteNo clue...
ReplyDeleteYeah, where is Felt? I am waiting for Wayne to do an interview with them.
ReplyDeleteIts good to hear that Carly has found a new role. NewsNation might not be the most desirable network, but it does mean that she has now a foot in the door with Nexstar, which owns NewsNation, and may soon own KING if their planned merger with Tegna, KING's owner, happens. Could a return to Seattle TV be possible? I wouldn't rule it out. I also wouldn't rule out Carly ending up on any other of Nexstar's far-too-many stations in a lifestyle/entertainment role. Many Nexstar stations have shows similar to Studio 13 and KING's New Day, and the number of those shows in existence has been growing.
ReplyDeleteJust pointing out that Carly is not an employee of NewsNation or an FTO, she is more or less just being what many on the network level call as a "contributor" rather than as a "correspondent" or "reporter". Sadly, the writing was on the wall when Carly joined FOX 13 that those who held "lifestyle/entertainment" beats before her (Ellen Taylor and Kaci Atchison were the other two) that it was going to be a short run. Ellen left 13 on account of personal reasons (I think she was being stalked or something from what I had heard) and now is the PA announcer for the Reign (Sounders' female counterpart) and Kaci became the early-AM news anchor and now is at Valve Corp. (a video game developer).
ReplyDeleteYes she may be getting some play and a paycheck there, but NN is not a good landing spot, period!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy that a caveman can do it!
DeleteIn less time that it took to watch that four-minute segment: "Siri, tell me the latest entertainment news..."/"what movies are playing in theatres now..." and you don't
ReplyDeletehave to watch a 30-sec or minute-long commercial.
