Leah pinch hits on KING

KING met Leah Pezzetti's doing double duty thru Wednesday hosting New Day Northwest while Kelly Hanson is aboard a cruise ship filming (probably a pay for play deal for this lifestyle show).

  1. What are their shifts now adays it seems the weather anchors are all over the place.

  2. Marriott in the mornings; Claibon noon, 4, 5; Parella 630, 7, 9, 10, 11; Leah on weekend pm
and Ruiz on weekend a.m. would be my best guess. Lots of scheduling flexibility for sure.

  3. Interesting choice to have Leah host New Day while Kelly is away, but I can't think of anyone else at KING off the top of my head who could fill in on New Day. I hope Leah is having fun with this temporary assignment.

    1. I feel she would be a good replacement for the position

    2. She certainly could be in the event that Kelly leaves the show. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. She hasn't been in the role that long. Leah could certainly become Kelly's primary fill in, or even a co-host if KING wants to go down that path.

    3. Prior to Leah they were using the show’s producers/ assistant producers as fill ins. Folks that (to my uneducated eyes) are not typically in on-camera roles.

    4. It is nice to see behind-the-scenes folks get a chance to be in front of the camera every now and then, assuming they want to.

  4. Yes you are correct, they used a producer (Suzie WIley) to sub but her on-air work was acceptable. But I think KING wanted more and stronger personality.

    1. That could be. Without a good dose of personality, the show can just feel like its going through the motions, merely filling time until the Noon news. I rarely watch New Day, but I do recall catching a segment or two one time where Suzie was hosting, and thought she did well enough.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

Seeing some alerts on Parella Lewis' behavior in SC

She's on her way to KING in August, but Patreons on ftvlive.com show several colleagues complaining about bullying tactcs and not wanting to work with her.   It may explain why she moved from station to station in Seattle back in the day and wound up in a podunk market for years. Here's the post, you be the judge: FTVLive has heard from a number of staffers who described Lewis as a straight up "Bully." Now, normally, when someone reaches out to FTVLive and describes a co-worker is "mean" or a "bully", we don't pay it much attention. Not everyone likes each other and in a business full of big egos, there will be friction. But, the word "bully" kept popping up, when talking to people inside the WYFF newsroom. One insider shared a story in which WYFF Anchor Destiny Chance was to read a story while standing in front of the chroma key. One WYFF staffer described it this way, "Destiny had a shot at the chroma key after weather.  The pr...
