Seattle TV Zip Trip Gets the Jump on Kangaroos

Well, of course I know that the Fox 13 Zip Trips are largely for community PR, but going live from a Kangaroo Farm in Arlington WA, on a 'newscast' left me wondering why they didn't leave this for or tape it for Studio 13.

Traffic anchor Adam Gehrke takes another one for the team.   Oh, I forgot to mention Brian Macmillan live at a bowling alley.  My mind is in the gutter, apparently.

  1. So Gehrke does traffic and shows how to hop from one car to another when it comes to kangaroos, while Macmillian, the weather guy is at a bowling alley and shows us how to throw the perfect lightning, wait for it, "Strike!". We also learned about the perfect chocolate chip from anchor Wixey awhile back and not about how to remove cookies from your computer. LOL. Ain't TV news grand? Cheers!

  2. This is exactly the type of content that should be reserved from Studio 13. If Fox 13 wants to do this type of content, expand Studio 13 back to an hour, hire a new co-host and a couple correspondents, and go for it! Save the newscasts for serious news coverage.

  3. Hey, Felt, do you work in TV? Your wit and humor reminds me of Pat Sajak when he did the weather for us down here on Los Angeles.

    1. Thank you for that nice compliment, Charles. It certainly keeps my wheels spinning to be compared to someone like Sajak, ha! To answer your question, I do not work in TV and been waiting for the call for about 15 years now for that break. In the interim, I am just practicing on my roulette and eating on Lean Cuisine. Cheers!

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

Frankie Flees KIRO7

UPDATE:  Frankie got married!!! Acting on tips from two of my loyal readers, I see that Weekend Weather Wizard Frankie Katafias is indeed missing from the KIRO 7 website.  Freelancer Scott Haveson filled in this past Sunday and we know that reporter Brandon Thompson has hit the weather wall in the past as a fill-in.   No word on if Frankie fled on her own or was told to.   She came to Seattle in 2022, so maybe it was a three-year deal that ended?
