Summer vacation impact:
Fox 13 started it's new morning newscast schedule today at 5 and, for the first two hours, it featured anchor team John Hopperstad and weekend a.m. anchor Taylor Winkel. It wasn't until 7 when Wixey, Erin and Brian took over. Mireya Garcia is on vacation so weekender Winkle sat in early, and then traffic guy Adam Gehrke hosted Studio 13.
Why do you change the showtime from 10 to 11 without the regular host? And why debut a 5 am show without the main people on a sampling day? I made a point to tune in, expecting something new.
Also, Wixey did a live chocolate chip demo with a guest at 10:40. I thought they saved tha stuff for Studio 13. Main news anchor doing cookie bits???
No news in Spanish?
Scheduling is controlled by mgmt, so this first day left me SMH.
It doesn't sound like Fox 13 made a good first impression with its new morning arrangements today.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm happy for Mireya that she was able to get some vacation time, it should have been rearranged to either end before today or not start for another couple of weeks to allow for viewer sampling during the first days of the new arrangements.
The live chocolate chip demo should have been saved for Studio 13. It would have fit much better in that show compared to what is supposed to be a newscast. Yes, it is the 10am hour, and it may be appropriate to lighten up the content a little bit during that hour since it is unlikely to be as popular with people wanting their news, weather, and traffic fix before heading out the door, but the lighter segments and stories should still have newsworthiness value to them. A chocolate chip demo does not.
As for Adam hosting Studio 13, I think it is great to see him getting more oppertunities to appear outside of the traffic beat. He has the right personality and demanoer to take on a hybrid traffic/lifestyle role at the station, and I hope to see him host the show more often. That being said, since this was the all-important first day of the new morning arrangements, Mireya should have been hosting today.
