Parella Fawns on K5, back on Seattle TV again.

Parella Lewis makes her official evening debut Monday night.  She's been at KING before as well as 7 and 13 (the vaunted Trifecta).   I never saw an announcement from the station about her arrival from small town Greenville, SC, though she heavily publicized it herself on social media.   She blocked me on X for reposting web stories about her reported in-fighting with colleagues there.  Tells me a lot.    And now her ingratiating strategy period begins at KING with this post I found.

"FIRST DAY AT KING 5 WAS AMAZING!! I walked the halls of many legends past and present where some of the best managers, producers, anchors, reporters and meteorologists raise the standard of broadcasting every single day! The rooftop views are breathtaking.

I should add most of those past  'legends' were never in the new building and did not walk those halls.   Nice try.   This is BS.  IMHO

So, it's  Shannon vs Claire vs Parella at night with Morgan Palmer the outlier male.

  1. I’m sure her 3 years at KING will leave a notable mark in broadcast history! All this “honored” “thrilled” “humbled” social posting for every new job is a hoot.

  2. Tuned in at 5p . . . and got Adam Claibon. Oh well.

    1. Is there a set schedule that the weeknight meterologists work at KING? Specifically, which meterologist does which shows? It seems to be somewhat random.

    2. When all the vacations are over, it should be Marriott in the a.m., Claiborn on noon and 4/5, Parella on 5-thru-11, Leah on Weekends and doing her extra weather show and being the top backup. She can also report. My two cents. Also I re-published the problems she had at WYFF which I think triggered her utopian post. A KING insider agreed with me.

    3. Your proposed schedule makes sense. I guess we'll just have to wait and see whether KING agrees.

Also, thank you for continuing to a shine a light on the Parella bullying allegations from WYFF. While I would love for them to be wrong, I continue to believe that there is truth to them, and it sounds like your insider at KING may concur.

  3. Saw her on the 6:30p. Q13 revisited. Hope it works out for her all the rest at KING in the strange swirl of a merger.

    1. Here is the previous post that shows she is covering her tracks:
She's on her way to KING in August, but Patreons on ftvlive.com show several colleagues complaining about bullying tactcs and not wanting to work with her. It may explain why she moved from station to station in Seattle back in the day and wound up in a podunk market for years.
Here's the post, you be the judge:

FTVLive has heard from a number of staffers who described Lewis as a straight up "Bully."

Now, normally, when someone reaches out to FTVLive and describes a co-worker is "mean" or a "bully", we don't pay it much attention. Not everyone likes each other and in a business full of big egos, there will be friction.

But, the word "bully" kept popping up, when talking to people inside the WYFF newsroom.

One insider shared a story in which WYFF Anchor Destiny Chance was to read a story while standing in front of the chroma key.

One WYFF staffer described it this way, "Destiny had a shot at the chroma key after weather. The producers put a story between weather and that story to give time to set the position. Parella REFUSED to move and just stood there with an intimidating presence. She looked at Destiny and said "you got a problem?" and continued to stand there. The story obviously missed its slot because of this ongoing bullying."

Obviously, the incident was bad enough that Destiny Chance sent a memo to the newsroom saying she wasn't coming back to work, until management addressed the issue.

      Here's that memo:

Chance followed through, and did not report for work, as she said.

Newsroom insiders say that they have taken their complaints to management, but it "fell on deaf ears." Sources say people left the station or asked to be reassigned due to the behavior of Lewis.

One source says that corporate HR had come to town a couple of times to talk about the issue., but little was done.

It appears that the way management did deal with the issue was let Lewis leave before her scheduled exit date.

Lewis is headed to Tegna's KING in Seattle. One staffer emailed FTVLive and had this advice for the staff at KING, "KING5, be on alert. You're about to get a storm of epic proportion

  4. She also worked at KOMO, so more of a Seattle Quadfecta!

    1. Don't remember her on KOMO, but I defer to your memory. That would be a superfecta, but I need proof.

    3. I don't remember her working at KOMO or KIRO. If she did, it would make her one of only a very small group of people who have worked at all four Seattle TV stations. The only other members of this group that come to mind are Rebecca Stevenson and Erin Mayovsky.

    4. Thanks for her old Twitter post confirming KOMO. Her linkedin bio only seems to include KING and KCPQ, thus, so much for fading memories.

  5. I guess her behavior is the parellaphant in the room.

    1. It could be. I'd have to imagine the fine people at KING have had to reckon with the allegations over the past several weeks.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

Seattle TV Weekender Ends Her Run

So long to KOMO's longtime weekend morning anchor Lee Stoll who did her final show Saturday.  She previously worked at KIRO7 and KREM2 in Spokane and did a little fill-in for me at the old NWCN.  She's a Northwestern U grad.   Weekend weather sidekick Theron Zahn will likely step right into anchor slot.  Newcomer Stella Sun may also be in the mix.  Zahn bid Lee a final goodbye this morning.  She is not revealing what is next, saying "That's for later." Also, next month Komo News Operations boss Dennis Hanson and longtime Production Tech Rena Mullen are retiring. There's a big Studio C station bash for them and retiring ND Phil Bruce on December 5th.
