Eric Thomas of KIRO, who's been filling in on mornings for DeeDee Sun, who was out on maternity leave, reported in the field on a fatal accident Sunday while Jason Sloss anchored as he has been in recent months. Thomas previously handled the weekend news desk, so not sure if this was just holiday weekend staffing or something new.
"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.
With respect, I believe you may be reading too much into the situation. Schedules are constantly shifting, especially at an understaffed station like KIRO - there's really nothing more to it.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, but I did acknowledge that it was possibly a late summer schedule quirk. It just seemed odd. I do wonder if Thomas will stay on weekends in some capacity to help cover the Hawks and UW football. KIRO always has some Hawks games on Sunday and they could use a post-game segment with some credibility. Just musing. Thanks for writing.
DeleteSome stations in other parts of the country have one anchor at the desk on Saturdays and another anchor at the desk on Sundays. Could KIRO be expierementing with that approach?
ReplyDeleteYes, you see it on NBC and ABC on weekends with two different anchors. Gives them more reporting days.
DeleteHe looks none too happy.
ReplyDeleteThat haircut. Domo Arigato, Mr Roboto.
ReplyDeleteYou lost me with that line! But I do like Dennis DeYoung.
ReplyDeleteDoing a little bit of everything makes a person well rounded. That quick snapshot I doubt reflects how he's feeling!
ReplyDeleteVersatility is truly important, aka multitasking in our era. He was covering a serious fatal accident at the time, so he couldn't exactly be smiling, for sure.
