Don't tell me this is auto correct, KOMO. Just negligent!

KOMO news posts on X about the cuts for public broadcasting but it got the letters all wrong.  One of the worst mistakes I have seen in this era of nobody checks anything.  It was CPB, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, NOT CBS.   Somebody needs to be shown the door for this insipid, inexcusable mistake that remains up despite numerous comments on X

"After being targeted by the Trump administration, CBS announced it will shut down operations at the end of the year - including longstanding institutions NPR and PBS - after Congress voted to cut $1.1 billion in funding." They finally took it down after three plus hours. I called it in.

Hmm...this page doesn’t exist. Try searching for something else.

  1. As someone who makes more than his fair share of typos, I have to say that this is an especially bad typo. CBS and the CBP are two very different organizations, and should not be confused for one another. If they haven't already, KOMO needs to fess up and correct this error as soon as possible.

    1. I'd like to believe that the author of the post did not intend to misidentify the CBP and that it was initially a typo. However, the fact that KOMO didn't come through and correct it quickly, especially once people started calling them out for it, morphed it into a much bigger mistake.

Thank you for calling the error into KOMO and getting them to finally fix it. It is things like this that make having a watchdog keeping an eye on our local media organizations so important.

  3. No doubt, the person responsible for overseeing this is working part time.

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

A Farewell to this Fox 13 Seattle host

Carly Henderson - co-host of Studio 13: Live - was laid off in the recent KCPQ expansion which we broke.  She posts her goodbye on FB.  She never really clicked on the pay for play lifestyle mid-morning show.   It will be cut to a half hour for awhile and moved to 10 a.m, according to reports, before moving back to 11 on Aug. 4.  And I am told it will remain 30 minutes, not be re-expanded to an hour.   Thank goodness. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16HFRSYM8x
