Seattle TV Live Desk Brings new Meaning to the word CLUTTER

Ok multitaskers out there.

In case you haven't stopped everything in your day to watch Fox13+ on KJZO, here's a couple of screens you get to see.  Wanted to get a snapshot.

1. Matt Smith (demoted from a #2 evening anchor for this??) at the desk covering news on the ratings-challenged duopoly channel.

2. Time, weather temps and conditions top right

3. Two small boxes in right margin with Fox Live Now and Fox Weather being shown at times with people on camera speaking with no audio.  Can't hear it or even read it the lower thirds.

4. A second pic below of a  Mayor's ceremony swearing in the chief with all that going on.

Ok, first time here. Way too busy, IMHO

Bloomberg-ish.

Nice concept but it seems to be on from 10:30-4 which seems like overkill.  But life is about choices, right?

  1. Matt is doing a fine job. When does his internship end?

  2. He's been offered the role of the Beaver on remake of Leave it to Beaver. Jerry Mathers body double, right? Not impressed, ever.

  3. Cluttered is the right way to describe this. The Fox Live Now and Fox Weather boxes are completely unnecessary, and distract viewers from what Matthew Smith is bringing them. The time and weather boxes are also overly large, and could be made smaller. Same goes for the Fox Local logo.

  4. Why can't they put something on the screen to tell us if they are live or a repeat?

    1. That would be a better use of valuable screen space versus some of the other features in the Fox Local stream.

  5. At least on one of the radio stations I listen to has the disclaimer: "Portions of this show have been pre-recorded."

Rebecca Stevenson has left KOMO

"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks.  Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas.  Her last Facebook posts are 12/17.  She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO.  Looks like her decision.  Wants a new chapter.   She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO.  Perhaps Stella Sun will move there.   She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

Where is Frankie?

Many have missed KIRO 7's weekend PM weather anchor, Frankie Katafias, so I reached out to some of my sources to find an answer.    She is apparently taking a few months of leave, but not known specifically what the reason may be.  Although there is uncertainty, it could be a personal or family matter.   I am told she is expected back at some point in the new year.  She is a great asset to what has become a troubled station.  Meanwhile former KOIN Portland chief met holds down the fort.

Seattle TV Weekender Ends Her Run

So long to KOMO's longtime weekend morning anchor Lee Stoll who did her final show Saturday.  She previously worked at KIRO7 and KREM2 in Spokane and did a little fill-in for me at the old NWCN.  She's a Northwestern U grad.   Weekend weather sidekick Theron Zahn will likely step right into anchor slot.  Newcomer Stella Sun may also be in the mix.  Zahn bid Lee a final goodbye this morning.  She is not revealing what is next, saying "That's for later." Also, next month Komo News Operations boss Dennis Hanson and longtime Production Tech Rena Mullen are retiring. There's a big Studio C station bash for them and retiring ND Phil Bruce on December 5th.
