"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.

I can see this appealing to weather enthusiasts, but I don't think this is going to draw a large audience. I checked out a recent episode, and it is full weather segments in the style of the main weather segments within a newscast from each the eight Western cities that parent company Tegna has stations in, presented by the weather people in those markets, with a host, which was Leah for the episode I sampled, introducing the segments. It's not at all bad, but it does seem to be very niche. Much more so than Leah's other streaming weather show, The Sky Above. It would help if there was a dedicated national segment and forecasts for other large, popular Western cities where Tegna isn't present, such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see if it lasts. You throw everything possible at the streaming wall and see what actually sticks. A little more brand building for Leah.
ReplyDeleteStreaming does make it easier to take gambles like this one.
DeleteMore people have commented on this posting than will ever watch this program.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about it.
ReplyDeleteYou can watch TWC's Jim Cantore excitement of thunder snow than this. At this point, weather has evolved from being newsworthy to entertainment. At least weather people still keep their jobs when the forecast was wrong whereas news people get the pink slip for embellishing their stories.
