Noticed today, and I admit being way behind on this, but former KING weather anchor Meeghan Black is the spokesperson for the Renton police and has been for almost two years. Caught her on a video clip about a triple homicide. She used to be the PIO for Bellevue PD, with almost five years there. On the TV side, besides weather, she had a long run with Ciscoe Morris, co-hosting his gardening show on KING for years. She was one of the top KING anchors never obligated to work on NWCN.
"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.
Reminds me of what Keith Board and Brian Selk told me when I interviewed at NWCN years ago the goal of so many was to work "upstairs" (where KING was). This was at Dexter.
ReplyDeleteNWCN was fifth floor, King was 4th...they wanted to work downstairs, and many who worked downstairs would not set foot upstairs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the correction, Wayne. It has been about 12 years since that interview took place and interesting how we didn't meet once at all. Both KING and NWCN interviewed me a total of eight times over the years (by phone and in-person) and my last interview with KING was when they were moving to SoDo. I never stepped once inside the KING newsroom.
DeleteGood to see that Meeghan is still around and doing well. She was a great talent at KING who seemed to get on well with everyone, especially Ciscoe. They were a dynamic duo in the garden, bringing breaths of fresh air to otherwise serious newscasts when the gardening segments were on, as well as with the weekly show. Meghan also did well on the morning traffic beat in the late 2000s and as host as Evening Magazine in the early 2010s. She could do it all!
ReplyDeleteOn a similar note- Kevin McCarty, formerly at KIRO, is the PIO of Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
ReplyDeleteA long time trusted media figure in the area.
