In Seattle both KING and KOMO led their evening newscasts Sunday with reports on the final important state legislative decisions in Olympia. Excellent. Actually covering important news. KIRO, not even close. They have NO reporter at the Capitol.
"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.
KIRO did not have a reporter at the Capitol on the all important final day of the state legislative session? That is shocking and sad. I know that this was a weekend, and that KIRO is short staffed, but that's no excuse for failing to cover something so important. The decisions our legislators make during the session matter to each and every viewer as we all have to live with the consequences of those decisions, whether good or bad. Daily coverage of the state legislative session should be a top priority for all of the news producing TV stations in Washington State, short staffed or not. Kudos to KING and KOMO for putting the viewers first by covering the news that really matters, even on the weekend!
