An AUDACY axe across America. No word on Seattle yet.

Nationwide layoffs ranging from 200-300 employees confirmed at Audacy Radio.   Have not seen anything yet about stations or staffs in the Seattle market.  Saw at least one layoff in Portland of a guy who used to be on air awhile back at KHTP in Seattle --  J aime ‘JT’ Tanchyk departs as Brand Manager of Hot AC “ Bella 105 ” KRSK and afternoon host at Country “ 99.5 The Wolf ” KWJJ-FM.    BTW Audacy owns the following FM stations in Seattle: KISW, KKWF, KSWD and KHTP https://radioinsight.com/headlines/296032/audacy-layoffs-march-2025/

Worth a very personal listen from KOMO's Kelly K.

A podcast link from KOMO's Kelly Koopmans on her co-hosted podcast, Hard Turn, about the recent loss of her husband. https://komonews.com/podcasts/hard-turn/kelly-koopmans-personal-loss-love-husband-michael-death-grief-cancer-community-support-parenting-hard-turn?fbclid=IwY2xjawI16CZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHRp_8Q4lISaxSZyjeBs7RuAWbsD6B5NSA9bNAe2v7o_IVOrff_tJeZkg_w_aem_ZmcsfcR2iP8NBEgsyQK8UA

A good read from TV News Check about local News

This article talks about some messaging that TV newsrooms might consider, especially when their promos talk about Stand for Truth and Holding the Powerful Accountable (as seen on two local stations in Seattle. Sneak peek: Instead of:  “Holding power accountable.”  Try:  “Helping you protect what matters most.” Instead of:  “Speaking truth to power.”  Try:  “Giving you the facts you need to take action.” Instead of:  “Exposing corruption.”  Try:  “Revealing hidden truths so you can make informed choices.” Instead of:  “Watchdog journalism.”  Try:  “Empowering you with knowledge to safeguard your community.” https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/rebranding-local-news-a-new-lens-on-audience-needs/

New promos on this Seattle TV

Watch out for quickie promos using KOMO anchors telling us how they tell the stories that matter to us and how they hold the powerful accountable.   No they don't.   So much Sinclair propaganda.   New News Director trying to put a stamp on the product, but failing.  Station has no investigative team.  Chris Daniels is too buddy-buddy with the Seattle Mayor IMHO, Jeremy Harris is the king of showcasing crime news and Niko Tamurian roots for the Seattle sports teams instead of objectively covering them.  ARC Seattle is a sham.  Ignore, please.
