"I am no longer at Komo 4." Thanks. Longtime Weather Anchor Rebecca Stevenson confirms that she left the station just before Christmas. Her last Facebook posts are 12/17. She has the Seattle station Quintafecta, having worked at the old NWCN, KING, KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Looks like her decision. Wants a new chapter. She was doing mainly weekend evenings for KOMO. Perhaps Stella Sun will move there. She has been sharing weekend mornings with Theron Zahn.
MEDIA MAVEN - My goal is to publish media news (often with a critical eye) in the Pacific Northwest, covering Seattle, Spokane, Portland, Tri-Cities/Yakima and even a litte beyond. At times, I might even venture into the sports community. You can also see posts on @tvmavenseattle.bsky.social. I am a retired, longtime broadcast journalist and manager in multiple markets, writing prof at UW and PLU in WA state, author of Season of the 76ers, Kent St. and American U alum, PIttsburgh native.
Once again, Ed Murrow is rolling in his grave and this is coming from a "30-something" born in the 90s when anyone of the Millennial generation hardly knows who he was, along with Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, Eric Sevareid, Mike Wallace, and so on. I myself tried to get a position in TV news for the past decade since graduating college (seven times interviewing at KING alone) to no avail. It is upsetting to see how local news have gone from "informing the public", to "entertaining the public". Despite being commented as "good-looking", I didn't go to this field to become Peter Jennings eye candy. I don't know the kind of Kool-Aid these news directors or hiring managers have been drinking, but I can do a whole lot better than most of the people here that have already who knows how many years of experience, doing the whole "starting in a small market" routine, etc. If you want to do this kind of reporting, my advice to go on TMZ or something instead.
