Drew Mikkelson, KING, #1 statehouse guy in the market. Versatile, solid, straight-up
Jeremy Harris KOMO, alarmist at times for sure, but knows how to handle live shots with urgency. That said, Sinclair wants even more urgency trying to tear down cities with its corporate agenda. But he gets attention.
Lynette Nguyen, KOMO, solid on live shots, even-keeled. Nice change from the hype.
Natalie Swaby, KING, longtime reporter who gets it and provides solid, non-alarmist reports
Eric Wilkerson, KING, longtime North Bureau Chief, always calm, cool and collected. True vet!
KING wins; I can't think of anyone from KIRO (no standouts) or KCPQ (Dave Dettman had problems in Baltimore) but feel free to offer up some names.
I think a couple of new reporters at KIRO do a good job & have gone unnoticed: Jason Sloss & Madeline Ottilie. I imagine it hasn’t been easy joining a new station during turbulent times for the COX station. I also like Ryan Simms from KOMO.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen enough of those two on KIRO, nor have they been here very long to establish cred for me. KOMO is Simms second stop in Seattle, and I can see him following in the recently departing footsteps of Haider and Rivera under a new news boss. I am seeing KIRO trying to use graphics to link reporters to areas of coverage, e.g. Brandon Thompson to South Sound. Research in the market has long shown KIRO to be strongest in Pierce as well. Have to keep an eye on it.
