In January 1981, working for a Baltimore TV station, I covered one of the inaugural balls in DC the night that Reagan took office after Carter and the American hostages held in Iran were freed. He announced the deal that night at the Natural History Museum before a packed house. Now, 44 years later, a different group of hostages are being freed from Gaza as another president is taking office. Not exactly the same, of course, but history repeating itself.
Remarkable.
