I was the founding news director of NewsChannel8, the nation's third regional cable news channel at that time, a channel that served DC, northern Virginia and suburban Maryland starting in 1991. It won't be of interest to many of you in the PNW, although it was a precursor of and model for Northwest Cable News, which started in 1995 in Seattle. The 90s were the heyday of regional cable. They provided news 24/7, just like the smartphones of today. The channel is bow a shadow of what it once was and is called WJLA 24/7. Anyway, it's an audio-only podcast interview with me by Dan Lane at https://dcrtv.com talking about the birth, life and death of this pioneer channel. Only 30 minutes of your life to listen if you care to, lol.

Wait, is DCRTV is back? Dave Hughes is a legend, God rest his soul. (I lived in NoVa — Manassas, Woodbridge, Alexandria and West Springfield — from 2000 to 2014. Just celebrated 10 years in the PNW in August.
