Kraken say "What the Puck, Let's go big!"

 


These moves should make KING5 happy, as the station has the exclusive 4th season partnership with the club to broadcast games over free TV.  (Root Sports has gone to the penalty box for a season-long major!).   The Kraken have signed defenseman Brandon Montour for $7M annually, just days after he helped Florida win the NHL's Stanley Cup.   In addition, Vegas Knights center Chandler Stephenson is also headed here, as the team's free agent spendng spree skates on.

    They have to make big moves, because the newness of the Kraken is not going to last forever.

    Thanks for your thoughts Mike, and welcome to you. Not a big hockey guy but they are moving forward. Today, they hired a woman from their minor league team as an assistant coach, which is a great decision to keep stoking fan fire. And, thanks for liking the name of the blog. I don't claim to be an expert here, just a self-appointed one. LOL

ICYMI, it appears COX-APOLLO owned KIRO7 in Seattle has cut almost a dozen staff as cutbacks across the company reportedly continue.   The only names confirmed so far are Sports DIrector Chris Francis, son of longtime NBC correspondent Fred Francis, and his producer, Chris Swanson, who formerly worked for me at the old Northwest Cable News.  No word on how KIRO will cover sports in the market going forward, with the Mariners leading the AL West, the Seahawks and UW football coming soon, not to mention the Kraken's fourth hockey season.  Gonna be interesting to watch.   I already notice  KOMO's weekend news, where the news anchor reads just a minute or two of sports.  Nico Tamurian is the station's only sports reporter/anchor right now.  Courtesy: ftvlive.com                                                                       Chris Francis                                                                    Nico Tamurian
