Not buying it bud, you're not Seattle Sports material.
"My first mistake was made early! I was informed the current building was actually moved into in 2016, so naturally my memory might be a little mixed up with a more recent visit (worked in Seattle that year, so that checks out).
Regardless, have been well aware of this powerhouse station since I was young and am grateful to be at a place I’ve wanted to be at for a long time!"
Not a fake post, but appreciate the insight! I’ve been back and forth from Seattle and I do recall the KING logo, but very well could have been an ad or something alike instead. Probably confused it with another visit to this city, they were certainly spaced out!
Learned the building was here in 2016, checks out since I made a trip to Safeco that year! But always had a dream of broadcasting and knew of KING when I was much younger, even without living here. Super excited to be here, and thanks for pointing out my mista

Word salad indeed! At least he acknowledged his error.
ReplyDeleteNot an error. Pure Pinocchio.
ReplyDeleteI think this felt a little rough on the guy, especially after he shared a childhood photo with the stadiums in the background. Back then it was easy to get details mixed up — stations promoted heavily on billboards, buses, and all kinds of local advertising, so memories can blend together over time.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your blog, which is why this stood out to me. But calling him out on Twitter and describing four comments as someone “getting crushed” felt overstated. You were a News Director and operated at a really high level in the industry — taking someone to task over something this minor feels beneath that standard.
Seattle may be the 13th market, but television isn’t what it was when you were in the business. A little more grace probably would have gone further here.
It was a stupid post and his response sounds like a cover up. He doesn't need grace from me or anyone. This young group of TV people like to make it all about them instead of the audience that needs to respect them. Luckily I'm not his ND. It would be a hard lecture, not grace.
Delete'Crushed' is the hip term today for losing the battle, so I used it.
DeleteShould have also added that he admired NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams as a child.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are letting it slide because they are desperate for sports help with so much to cover ahead.
DeleteHe has a lot of work to do to redeem himself. I hope he is able to as KING does need the help. But telling the truth and earning the trust of the viewers matters much more than filling a staffing vacancy.
DeleteHow many on-air sports people are at KING now? Egan, Silvi, the new woman from Denver, Bri the Kraken magazine show reporter and the guy who lied about his memories of Safeco and KING studios? Seems like a lot. Especially compared to KIRO (zero), KOMO (one plus Daniels) and FOX with just Levine now that Alyssa is out.
ReplyDeleteYes, Silvi, Egan, Arielle Orsuto and now Baker with the bad first impression social post. I don't know about a Kraken person, I assume team hired him for the KHN. Fox 13's Alyssa's last day is May 31, but they also use Ethan McReynolds, Lauren Helmbrecht, Curtis Crabtree and Chris Swanson at last check.
