The only station carrying widow's speech

KOMO carried Erika Kirk's first comments LIVE on Seattle TV reacting to her husband's murder.  All four local affiliates were in news programming at the time. None of the other stations aired it. The feed came via Turning Point, Charlie Kirk's organization, not from any of the parent networks.   It caused KOMO to join ABC World News Tonight in progress at 540 pm after taking the feed about 10 minutes earlier.

Mariners push 710 to second place

August radio ratings are in. for Seattle   KUOW (NPR and local) leads the pack again with a nice jump.  KIRO AM moves to second with the Mariners pennant drive.   KTTH's change to the stupid Seattle Red title/slogan caused a little drop.   That stuff never works.   Will be watching how the events of the Kirm murder will affect the Sept. numbers.    Not too much else to report of significance, but here is the rundown. https://ratings.radio-online.com/content/arb039

A Seattle TV vet says bye-bye after 47 big ones

New podcast from this Seattle TV team

Fox 13 calls it Seattle News Weekly with the main morning anchors chopping up the latest local news and such.    There have been four so far.   Let the pontificating continue to push the a.m. team and numbers.    Fox actually seems over-gimmicked to me with Fox Local, Live Desk, WA Sports Wrap, WA News Wrap, Seattle Sports Live on Sunday nights, Seahawks Gameday, Zip Trips, Seattle News Tonight when its still daylight, et al.   Scorecard, pls.    https://www.fox13seattle.com/podcasts/seattle-news-weekly-self-driving-cars?taid=68c067a00ad0b40001e89d1e&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A%20Trending%20Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter

A Rare sighting of these retired Seattle TV Icons

At a retirement party for a longtime writer, we see pioneering King5 anchors Jean Enersen (third from right) and Lori Matsukawa (next to Chris Ingalls) join the fun in this pic provided by another K5 refugee Kim Holcomb of Evening.  All looking good.

Big departure at this Seattle TV

Longtime reporter at KIRO7, Deborah Horne, has announced that she is leaving in October.  That's a huge loss for a struggling station that had her working weekends after all the years she has served.   Here's a post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16juFdNCVA/

Sunday Seattle Sports Snapshot Comparison

It's probably not a fair fight to put King 5's Fifth Quarter vs Fox 13's Seattle Sports Live Sports on Sunday nights.  King's show comes on about 20 minutes after NBC Sunday Night Football, but without knowing ratings, not sure how much lead-in it holds --  likely plenty enough though.  Combined with the longtime sports guru and host Paul Silvi and Hawks HOFer Walter Jones, paying ex-Hawks hero and radio voice Steve Raible joining in, doing the show live on tape from Lumen right after the game, and the station's partnership with the team which provides live player guests, they kinda have it all.   I think Jones, while a great player, is not a very good analyst, relying on cliches and the obvious.  They should hire Matt Hasselbeck.  He's much more insightful and current.  Show needs a more astute talent upgrade.  Allyssa Smith-Charlston hosts for 13, but seems to me Aaron Levine should host because he is more equal to Paul in longevity ...
